Peptide care, in plain words

Budget notes · Cash & coverage

Make roomfor the whole bill.

A price makes more sense when you know what it includes, how long it lasts, and which payment route it uses.

Words to keep

Self-pay and coverage.

Cash and insurance are different routes

Self-pay means covering the bill with your own money outside insurance.

Cash payments for these drug-maker offers did not count toward an insurance deductible when checked in September 2026.

Your deductible is the sum you must pay under your plan before certain benefits begin. For a quote, ask which payment route is being used.

Useful price examples, with their limits.

These examples concern weight medicines. They do not price a visit, tests, or a treatment plan for a sports injury.

Cash starting offer

Semaglutide tablets, sold as Wegovy, started at $149 a month on the government cash-offer page checked on 26 September 2026.

That starting figure applied to the lowest strength; it was not the price of every strength or a full care package.

Eligible Medicare participants

Medicare’s Bridge was a temporary program for certain weight medicines, separate from its usual drug benefit. This program was checked on 26 September 2026.

A copay is the share a participant pays.

Bridge participants meeting the requirements paid $50 as their copay for certain medicines supplied each month when checked on 26 September 2026.

Its stated window ran from July 2026 through December 2027.

For Medicare’s usual drug benefit, the yearly cap on your medicine spending did not include Bridge payments. The Bridge gave no extra help with its copay for people on low incomes.

To qualify, a person must be an adult with an eligible Medicare drug plan and meet the program’s weight and health requirements. These requirements were checked on 26 September 2026.

For people with type 2 diabetes, the route is Medicare’s usual drug plan rather than the Bridge.

The Bridge was unavailable to you in 2026 if your usual Medicare drug plan had paid for one of these medicines in 2026.

Ask the person caring for you and your plan to check the full requirements. Ask whether your health and past medicine coverage qualify you before relying on this price.

Compare the product, the payment route and the terms before comparing amounts.

Ask what insurance will actually pay.

The reason for treatment can change the answer

When checked in September 2026, Medicare Part D, its usual drug benefit, continued to exclude medicines for weight loss alone.

Another accepted medical use may allow coverage, subject to the plan’s medicine list and approval process.

For any insurance plan, name the exact product and ask about coverage for the purpose it was prescribed for. Ask what remains for you to pay.

Formulary

A formulary is the medicine list an insurance plan uses for coverage.

Ask whether the exact product is on that list for your reason for treatment.

Prior authorization

Prior authorization is the plan’s permission step before it agrees to pay.

Ask who sends the request and what happens while the decision is pending.

Give the plan a product name and a reason for treatment, rather than the broad phrase peptide care.

Get the whole bill in writing.

Ask for a quote that separates each part. Then ask which parts repeat and when an offer ends.
